The ONLY 5-Star Rated Business Formation Company Excellent

A few weeks ago someone asked about which credit cards are best.  There’s a lot to consider such as 0% interest for 6-24 months, points, cash back, airline miles…

Last week, I spoke with Danielle, our in-house Business Credit Manager, and got some really insightful information that I’m excited to share with you!

On the personal credit side, the scores range from 350-850.  Business Credit ranges from 0-100.  Dun & Bradstreet reports a Paydex Score,  and Experian Business reports Intelliscore.  There may be other business credit reporting agencies, but these are the two number one credit reporting agencies for business.  Your goal is to have a Paydex and Intelliscore of 80.  This is equal to you or me have an 800 Fico.

Generally it takes a business 5-7 years to get a Paydex score of 80.  NCH does have a Business Credit Accelerator program to help you get the Paydex score of 80 within 3-6 months!  However, the Paydex Score is only going to help you with Vendor Credit:  Gasoline Cards, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Costco, Office Supplies, Cleaning Supply’s etc.   The Home Depot card can only be used at Home Depot…

When applying for business Visa, MasterCard, Amex, they will look at your personal credit.  So, you will see an inquiry, but when you do the application properly, these cards will not show up on your personal credit report!  *** Capital One most likely will report on personal.

These business Visa, Mastercard, and Amex cards are incredibly valuable.  They’ll give you the 0% offers for 6-24 months, you can get cards with points, cash back, airline miles…  Same as personal.  However, since these business credit cards are not reporting on your personal credit report, you can pull cash out for down payments (without doing a cash advance), use these cards to pay for materials, contractors, marketing, travel.  Any of your operational capital, growth capital, or carrying costs.  Think of this as the Gap Funding:  everything that hard money, private money, and money from banks does not cover, use this for.

720 and above is excellent credit and you can apply for the Chase Ink.  650 and above is good credit, and you can apply for the Amex Blue Business Card or the Capital One Spark.  Below 620, you can apply for the Revenued Business Card + Flex Line, which does have a 0% for 6 months.

Start your Nevada LLC in
24 hours guaranteed

You don’t need to live in Nevada to enjoy the best asset protection
and audit defense a Nevada LLC can provide.

Individual results will vary, and you might get declined!  Get in the habit of requesting credit line increases periodically.  The higher the limits on your personal cards, the higher the limits you’ll get on the business.   Whether you’re a business owner or investor, having good business credit and good personal credit will open a lot of doors.

Before you apply for any new credit card, you’ll want to make sure your personal credit is on point.  I personally have Credit Karma, a free service that gives you up-to-date information for Trans Union, and Equifax.  I also have the free app from Experian, so I’m able to see all 3 of the major credit reporting agencies.

Remember, banks will give you whatever you want when you don’t appear to need the credit.  As soon as you look like you need credit, they won’t give you a dime!  Feel free leave a comment with which cards you find most valuable and why.
